MILFORD, CT – June 26, 2013 — A former Boy Scout filed suit
today against the Connecticut Yankee Council and the Boy Scouts of America for
sexual abuse and for breaching the fiduciary duty those organizations owed to
youth in scouting as a result of their extensive knowledge of the pervasiveness
of sexual abuse in scouting.

The plaintiff, who filed the case under the pseudonym Robert
Roe #1
, alleges he was sexually abused by Alton Parady, a former scout
office supervisor. Instead of protecting his well-being, Parady exploited the
trust that Robert Roe placed in him and molested the young scout.

The case was filed today in the Milford Superior Court by
attorney Frank Bartlett, Jr. of Cheshire, Connecticut. Bartlett will be
assisted by attorneys Kelly Clark and Paul Mones of Portland, Oregon. Mones and
Clark won an almost 20 million dollar verdict against the Boy Scouts in 2010
involving a man who had been sexually abused in the 1980s.

Last October, as a result of this Portland case, thousands of
the Boy Scouts of America’s Ineligible Volunteer “Perversion” files, which
documented childhood sexual abuse of children by scout leaders, were released
to the public. These files, from the period 1965-1985, can be found at http://kellyclarkattorney.com/files
. All three attorneys frequently represent adult victims of childhood sexual
abuse against institutions such as the Catholic Church and various other
youth-serving organizations.

Frank Bartlett, Jr. stated, “Our client has been struggling
for years with the internal conflict and trust issues that resulted from this
abuse. The filing of this lawsuit represents the first step in a long road to
obtaining the validation our client deserves, an integral component to the
healing process.”

Kelly Clark adds, “This man has turned to the Courts to
obtain justice to correct the grievous wrongs that were done to him. We plan to
prove the BSA knew it had a problem for decades prior to Roe’s abuse and chose
to keep that problem secret.”

Paul Mones says, “Sexual abuse exists not just because of the
actions of perpetrators, but because of institutional policies which fail to
protect the children they serve.”
