YONKERS, NY – December 31, 2013 – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano announced that the City of Yonkers is taking the following precautions in anticipation of this week’s upcoming snowstorm.
Parking Restrictions
- Regular alternate side parking rules will remain in effect for the duration of the storm; residents are strongly encouraged to park in their driveway or garage, where possible.
- As always, residents are not permitted to park on designated snow emergency routes.
Recycling and Refuse Collection
- The Recycling Center will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
- The Organic Yard will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
- Paper Recyclables will be picked up as scheduled on Thursday morning.
- Refuse collection is suspended on Friday.
Program Cancellations
At this time, all City of Yonkers recreational programs and senior center activities will take place as scheduled. Residents should call the Mayor’s 24-hour Hotline at 377-HELP (4357) and visit the City’s Facebook page at facebook.com/cityofyonkers and Twitter at @cityofyonkers for updates on cancellations throughout this and every weather event.
