YONKERS, NY — In a few months, the most talked about bar in the country is sure to be SOYO in Downtown Yonkers. Hit TV show Bar Rescue recently completed their transformation of a local pub, formally known as Undisputed. The new upscale “craft-cocktail” bar is the first to be featured on the SpikeTV show, and fits beautifully into the renaissance that Downtown Yonkers has undergone over the past decade.

With the assistance of bar expert Jon Taffer, and the entire Bar Rescue team, SOYO was born. Host Jon Taffer, an award-winning restaurant operator with nearly 30 years of hands-on experience, uses brutal honesty to create a quick and fundamental transformation.

“I was excited to learn of Bar Rescue coming to Yonkers. They recognized the City as a great place to live, work and play and transformed a space downtown where residents can do exactly that,” said Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano.

After a week of planning and construction, the only thing that remains the same is the address at 38 Main Street. The outside is repainted and rebranded, and the inside has been completely remodeled into a brighter, trendier space. But the most important changes are to the environment, the food, and the drinks. The dress code mirrors the décor: upscale and trendy. The menu has been revamped to include unique twists on comfort foods and traditional snacks.

What makes SOYO most unique are the drinks. “Craft Cocktails” are drinks in which every element is made fresh and tailored specifically to the drink. This includes fresh fruits, custom glassware, house-made syrups, and fusion-infused liquors. One specialty drink, the SOYO Tea, includes Ciroc Peach Vodka, Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Vodka, club soda, with fresh lemon, basic and red licorice. Drinks are crafted with care, resulting in unique flavors and a more satisfying experience. There is also a rotating selection of craft beers available. SOYO is certain to provide a special experience to all their guests.

Owners Brian O’Shea and Miguel Torres are extremely excited about their new bar, “We are so proud of what this new bar represents and we are looking forward to contributing to the continued growth and positive changes in Downtown Yonkers,” they said.

The Yonkers Downtown BID and Mayor Mike Spano hosted a grand re-opening and ribbon cutting for SOYO on August 12th.

SOYO is located at 38 Main St, Yonkers, NY 10701.

Be part of the action before Bar Rescue’s millions of viewers get a taste for SOYO later this fall on SpikeTV.

Daniel Lipka is executive director of the Yonkers Downtown / Waterfront Business Improvement District.
