What do Anthony Weiner, Bob Filner, Eliot Spitzer, Thomas Jefferson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy and Bill Clinton all have in common? Think about it. It's not a political party answer. Obviously we can easily swing right and throw out names like Mark Sanford, Newt Gingrich, Larry Craig, Mark Foley and David Petraeus. There are several answers to this question. One answer - they all had or have a human failing.

Fires 38 Minimum Wage Summer Camp Counselors
The “Camp Rays” program has been offered at four separate school sites throughout Yonkers for many years. The four sites are situated at Lincoln High School, with a maximum enrollment of 216 campers and a staff of 50; Robert C. Dodson School, with a maximum enrollment of 140 campers and a staff of 28; Cross Hill Academy with a maximum enrollment of 120 campers and a staff of 26; and Montessori School 27 with a maximum enrollment of 72 campers and a staff of 18. Camp Rays staff to camper ratio is 6:1. It looks good on paper, so how did a popular seasonal program turn into a fiasco for 38 Summer Camp Counselors losing their employment and those enrolled in the second three-week summer program having their summer plans curtailed and thereby disrupted without a concern or a statement from the Yonkers Parks, Recreation & Conservation Commissioner Yvette Hartsfield.

YONKERS, NY -- July 29, 2013 -- The New York State Legislature adjourned the 2013 session permitting the compulsory arbitration law to be extended for three additional years. Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) records reveal union membership working without contracts for about 5 years in Yonkers. At issue now is how the extended validity of the law will effect cities like Yonkers, considered fiscally distressed, a term ill defined by Abany lawmakers. Has the arbitration process changed so as to permit “the process and help municipalities continue to protect the public’s safety while balancing the interests of their taxpayers?” Yonkers Firefighter and I.A.F.F. Local 628 President Barry McGoey, recently returned from Albany, will share the facts and ramifications the process holds for Yonkers and the union membership. Mr McGoey, Esq., will be the first guest on the Tuesday, July 30, 2013 program of Westchester On the Level beginning at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m., author, poet, and writer John F. McMullen will attend the show to speak to his dexterity with the written word.
