Open Letter to All Conservatives By HUGH FOX,JR., Westchester County Conservative Chairman
On September 6, 2013, I wrote you a letter to inform you that the Conservative Party had endorsed Grace Borrani for City Council President and that we had been challenged with a write-in by Liam McLaughlin.
As I write to you today, we have been made aware that Grace has had the Conservative line hijacked by her opponent but for me nothing has changed. In November, there are three candidates running for City Council President and Grace Borrani is one of them. She has secured an independent line.
I know you received a mailing from Liam McLaughlin questioning our candidate’s credentials and her service to Yonkers.
Let me tell you that Grace truly represents Yonkers. Why? Because:
* She understands Yonkers and its people.
* She is a young mother with a daughter enrolled in the Yonkers school system.
* She has a sister who teaches in Yonkers Public Schools.
* She knows what is needed to make the schools better.
* She is a vibrant business person who chose to stay in Yonkers and run her business here.
* She sells real estate and hears the concerns the citizens have when they have to buy or sell their homes in Yonkers.
* She hears the complaints that her clients have about the “hostage” tax…that onerous real estate property tax that has gone up in recent years.
* She is a homeowner and knows that taxes are too high.
* She is an avid volunteer for her church, her community and business.
* She is a single mother with responsibilities, who is making a better life for herself and her daughter.
* She is of Italian and Ecuadorian decent.
* She is bilingual in English and Spanish with knowledge of Italian.
As for her opponent Liam McLaughlin, he represents:
- A self-serving agenda.
- The developers with “sweetheart” deals waiting to happen.
- The “Good Old Boy” network.
Liam McLaughlin has an affiliation with a liberal, democrat attorney that represents many developers that think of the “bottom line” before they think of the taxpayer. This particular attorney represents the developers of the Austin Avenue complex, the location of Stew Leonard's, Home Depot and Costco. Their latest proposal is a 175,000 square foot Target store and an 80,000 square foot retail sporting goods store (even though there is a Dick's Sporting Goods and REI located in Ridge Hill). How sad! I know that Grace will know how to deal with this conflict but how will Liam McLaughlin when he is an attorney in the same office with this attorney?

There is a lot of bitterness here about Fox and Pagano. I don't know much about Fox and his political ambitions. People said things here, I am not aware of. I was on the YFD for 22 years, and it is a great department with a lot of dedication by the members of the department. Tony Pagano did a great job with the Fire Department. I heard a lot of rumors about he did this and did that. I knew nothing of that. From my view and experience, he never opposed the union in its gains for benefits for its members. He started and continued new apparatus replacement on a steady basis, like FDNY does (cheaper in the long run) and developed along with the rest of the department, a collapse unit, fireboat, and Heavy Rescue. So the bitterness I see, is either jealousy, or experiences that I know nothing about. Pagano always treated me well, after I retired, and I could call him, and visit, and he welcomed you back. Fox has ambition in politics, but isn't that what it’s all about.

This is too little to late. 71 votes is all she received in the conservative primary. There are a few thousand conservatives in Yonkers. All Fox and Restiano could secure for her was 71? And you call yourselves leaders. Time to resign guys what an embarrassment.

How did Fox get a leadership role anyway? The guy never held a real job. Just another civil service user, scammer, looking for more handouts. He is self serving and thinks he is a king maker.
Liam MacLaughlin has proven his worth as a citizen and a civic minded leader. I guess he won't allow Hugh Fox Jr. to get his fat chubby fingers in the city of Yonkers' cookie jar.

This ass McLaughlin has an ad on this page which says that he will "Fight to Reduce our Taxes"
That is unmitigated gall.
He and his pal Spencer and the woman pulling the strings behind the scenes, Ms. Spring, raised our taxes by approx. 150% during their reign.
God help us if that unholy trinity were to be empowered again - this time in partnership with the Spanos.
Of course, Borrani is no alternative. Tied to Vinnie "I Love to Raise Taxes Too" Restiano, she ain't no conservative.
Then again neither is Fox, who survives off the public teat.
That leaves Rotanelli. Unsuave, but he's a businessman, taxpayer, non-politician. He'll drive them crazy by bringing some common sense to City Hall.

I do not like this letter, no real changes just general direction with nothing backing it up.
I don't think she has a chance.
Liam will probably win. Perhaps he can get the 4 million he and the other 5 council people gave a developer the last time he was in office. I don't think we got it back yet, or not sure if we ever will.

Grace is a smart & very nice young woman. It is just a shame that she is starting off her political life with these two losers Hugh the fox and Vinney the hag. Then again wasn't there a time when Vinney and Liam were singing on the same page? Guess that just leaves neanderthal man.

Your diatribe is insulting and offensive, but I would not expect anything less from the so-called "conservative party." I am surprised that you didn't accuse Liam of supporting Marriage Equality (God forbid - the REAL conservative ideal of equal rights for all).
But lets be real here - the 'conservative" ie "cash" party is for sale just as much as Cavallo. Your party is a political w hore, available to the highest bidder.
Everyone knows you have a personal vendetta against Liam; whatever its validity to put up an unqualified straw women is pointless and demeaning to her. But it is all about your hate isn't it.
Please tell us why her ethnic background means anything in terms of her qualifications. Liam is Irish: so what.
In terms of the proposed development behind Stew Leonards: bring it on. Perhaps it will be a success unlike the corruption filled Ridge Hill. More jobs as well.
